چکیده

The research described in this publication was carried out by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, under a contract with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. © 2009 California Institute of Technology. Government sponsorship acknowledged. Ranging measurements in the Deep Space Network (DSN) have been contributing to spacecraft navigation and radio science investigations for 40 years. Performance over the past two decades has remained at the 1-m level limited by systematic effects. The goal of 10-cm ranging has long been sought. A task is underway to investigate possible improvements in the technique used to calibrate range measurements for delay through station microwave and electronic components. A new measurement technique is described here and the results of the first tests are presented. A comparison is given for Cassini range measurements obtained with the operational DSN system and with the new technique.

LiDAR-IMU Time Delay Calibration Based on Iterative Closest Point and Iterated Sigma Point Kalman Filter. Sensors 2017, 17, 539

The time delay calibration between Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) and Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) is an essential prerequisite for its applications. However, the correspondences between LiDAR and IMU measurements are usually unknown, and thus cannot be computed directly for the time delay calibration. In order to solve the problem of LiDAR-IMU time delay calibration, this paper prese...

MIMO Measurement and Joint M-D Parameter Estimation of Mobile Radio Channels

We describe a measurement and parameter identification procedure for the mobile radio propagation channel which includes the azimuth directions of the propagating waves at both link ends, elevation at the base station, time delay, and Doppler shift. The measurement is based on a broadband, real-time multiple-input-multiple-output radio channel sounder. At the mobile station a circular uniform b...

Towards System Calibration of Panoramic Laser Scanners from a Single Station

Terrestrial laser scanner measurements suffer from systematic errors due to internal misalignments. The magnitude of the resulting errors in the point cloud in many cases exceeds the magnitude of random errors. Hence, the task of calibrating a laser scanner is important for applications with high accuracy demands. This paper primarily addresses the case of panoramic terrestrial laser scanners. ...

Water Vapor Radiometer–Global Positioning System Comparison Measurements and Calibration of the 20 to 32 Gigahertz Tropospheric Water Vapor Absorption Model

Collocated measurements of opacity (from water vapor radiometer (WVR) brightness temperatures) and wet path delay (from ground-based tracking of Global Positions System (GPS) satellites) are used to constrain the model of atmospheric water vapor absorption in the 20 to 32 GHz band. A differential approach is presented in which the slope of opacity-versus-wet delay data is used as the absorption...

Navigation Demonstrations of Precision Ranging with the Ulysses Spacecraft

Radio tracking data acquired from the Ulysses spacecraft during its flight to Jupiter were used to test experimental navigational techniques for processing highly accurate (1 to 2 m) two-way ranging data. While ranging data with this level of accuracy have been routinely used for navigation of Earth-orbiting spacecraft, ranging data from interplanetary spacecraft have in the past been artificia...
